Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek (16 Days) overview

This is the Everest Base Camp trek built around comfort rather than the calendar. We walk the same legendary trail — Namche Bazaar, Tengboche Monastery, Dingboche, Lobuche, Gorak Shep, and the base camp itself beneath the Khumbu Icefall — but stretched over sixteen unhurried days, with two extra buffer nights, a slower daily pace, and premium lodge accommodation the entire way: private ensuite rooms with attached bathrooms wherever the village infrastructure allows, the best-located lodges in Namche, Tengboche, and Dingboche, and a genuine rest afternoon built into nearly every stop. The extra days go toward the things a standard itinerary rushes past: a full second night in Namche to properly explore the Sherpa Culture Museum and Khumjung's monastery, a dedicated panorama hike up Nangkartshang Peak above Dingboche, and a weather buffer before the Lukla flight that removes the single biggest source of stress on this route — a missed connection in Kathmandu because Tenzing-Hillary Airport is fogged in. We close the trip with a night back in a proper hotel, a Kathmandu Valley heritage tour, and a farewell dinner, so the trek ends on comfort rather than a rushed dash to the airport. This is still, unavoidably, a high-altitude trek — Kala Patthar at 5,545 m and Everest Base Camp at 5,364 m don't get easier because the lodge has a duvet — but the slower ascent profile, extra acclimatization time, and daily support from an experienced guide and full porter team make it the most comfortable way to reach one of the most photographed places on Earth.

Frequently asked questions

Pace and comfort. A standard EBC trek is typically 12 to 13 days; this itinerary adds a second night in Namche, a dedicated Nangkartshang Peak panorama day, and a weather buffer before the flight home, spread over 16 days. Accommodation is upgraded to the best available lodges on the route, with private ensuite rooms wherever the village has the infrastructure for it — Gorak Shep and some nights in Lobuche remain basic by necessity, as no lodge at that altitude offers private bathrooms.
